Even though there was some snow spotted up on the Continental Divide that borders the Winter Park/Fraser Valley, there is still plenty of summer left!
This coming weekend there are several events happening around town.
The High Altitude Flame Thrower Chili Cookoff is happening both Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st at the Winter Park Resort. Admission is free and you can buy “tasting tickets” at the venue. Along with this fantastic and tasty competition, all of the normal activities at the base of the Winter Park Resort are still up and running.
The Winter Park Uncorked Wine Festival is being held Saturday, August 20th at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park from noon to 5 pm. Tickets are available in advance through the Winter Park Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce or can be purchased at the door. There will be food vendors, wonderful wine tastings and live music for all to enjoy.
“Titanic, The Musical” is playing Saturday, August 20th, at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in Grand Lake. Head up to this incredible mountain town located between our large lakes and Rocky Mountain National Park.
On Saturday, August 27th, the Winter Park Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Winter Park Music Festival in Hideaway Park. Sponsored in conjunction with 103.5 THE Fox radio station, admission is FREE! There are some limitations on what you can bring into the area with you but the music is free and doors open at noon. Come listen to headliner Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe. Other artists include The Rick Lewis Project from 12:30 to 2, Great White from 2:30 to 3:45 and then Vince Neil from 4:30 to 6:00.
Also on Saturday the 27th, you can go see “Rock of Ages” at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in Grand Lake.
So, as you can see, there is still quite a lot of activity going on in the Grand County towns! Did I mention that September is also one of the most beautiful months to be up here in the high Colorado Rocky Mountains? Mountain biking, hiking and changing Aspen leaves are all available for your enjoyment. The changing Aspen leaves are free of charge!
