What does it mean to be a Winter Park-Fraser Valley Rotarian? I just joined and I am learning all about being a Rotary Member…
The rewards generally equal or surpass the level of commitment. To become a Rotarian is to join in an organization whose members make an important difference in the quality of life in the community and worldwide. It is a doorway to a unique network, linked by fellowship. Being a Rotarian means being able to enrich the lives of others, while enjoying yourself in the company of your peers. Basically, we volunteer our time and energy toward helping other non-profits by raising awareness, funds and getting others involved in the fun! What could be better?
The Four Way Test
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The Winter Park/Fraser Rotary supports many local groups and events in our community. Some of our accomplishments in the last few years includes:
-Donating time and materials to the completion of Broome Hut in Second Creek (operated by Grand Huts)
-Giving dictionaries to all 3rd graders at Fraser Elementary School (this is an annual event)
-Donating time and money to The Sprout House, a safe house operated by Advocates for a Violence Free Community
-Sponsoring a foreign exchange program for local high school students
-Hosting incoming foreign exchange students
In addition to supporting local programs Winter Park/Fraser Rotary we have expanded our work globally. In recent years our Club has:
-Started a fresh water project in Ecuador, which we continue to support
-Hosted an incoming groups of international Rotarians
-will be hosting the International Ski Rotarians in January 2014
WP/F Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at noon, for lunch, at Beaver’s Lodge. Visitors and interested community members are always welcome!
