Each fall, the Denver Film Festival has brought award-winning shows to its people. The film festival has changed a lot since its inception, yet the mission has stayed the same. Filmmakers and festival coordinators alike implement this mission year after year “… to develop opportunities for diverse audiences to discover film through creative, thought-provoking experiences.” The Centennial State is known for its outdoor recreation and awe-inspiring views, but there’s also a bustling arts and culture scene to be discovered here. This annual film festival is just one example.

Denver, CO, is about 60 miles southeast of Winter Park. For Winter Park residents, it’s the perfect autumn night out in the city! For more night-out ideas, check out what winter and summer in Winter Park have to offer.

Why You Need to Attend the Denver Film Festival

It’s Brought Unique Films to Denver for More Than 40 Years

The very first Denver Film Festival in 1978 was nothing more than an experiment. Would the citizens of Denver appreciate a 10-day long festival of film screenings? At this time, the films were screened at various theatres throughout the city. The first year of the festival was a hit and acted as the impetus in making the film festival what it is today!

Now, Denver Film Festival screenings are held at the Sie FilmCenter. This theatre is the largest non-profit theatre in the state and proudly serves as the venue where attendees can strengthen their relationship with cinema.

There’s a Wide Variety of Film Sections to Choose From

The Denver Film Festival features screenings of obscure films to first-looks at some of Hollywood’s soon-to-be greatest. No matter what selection you choose, you’re sure to be impressed. To get a taste of what this year holds, check out last year’s film sections! There’s even a section that highlights the work of local Colorado filmmakers.
